Americanism Contest

This is a patriotic program teaching our youth from kindergarten through 12th grade about their American heritage, civics and citizenship. The program includes a flag drawing, a poster and an essay contest which are grade specific and age appropriate.
 

  • K-1st Grade—Flag Coloring Contest;

  • 2nd-5th Grade—Poster Contest; and

  • 6th-12th Grade—Essay Contest “What does it mean to be an American”


Please mail your completed Flag, Poster or Essay Contest entry along with the Contest Entry Form to:

Entry packets can be downloaded at www.amvetswa.org/americanism.

The deadline for the contest must be postmarked by April 15, 2026.

Woodland AMVETS post to be dedicated in honor of soldier on "top secret" mission

Woodland's American Veterans (AMVETS) Post 16 will soon feature a name in dedication to a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force who was one of nearly a dozen Americans who were unaccounted for following a 1968 attack on their top secret radar post in Laos during the Vietnam War.

Walla Walla VFW Post hosts former prioner of war Robert Certain

Former prisoner of war and retired U.S. Air Force Col Robert Certain will be the guest speaker during POW/MIA day events Friday, Sept. 16, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 992.
